Some thoughts on the earthquake in Chile

We know nothing from personal experience about the area around Conception, the epicentre of the earthquake and most of the images that we have seen from Santiago have been of shacks and very low grade buildings being damaged.  We hope that the places we visited , and the people we met, have not suffered badly.

The one image that did resonate was this of what the NYT described as the Fine Arts Museum.  I think in fact it is the rear entrance to the Belles Artes Museum which we visited as described in my trip report..  The image in the latter stages of thatpost shows whart we believed to be the front entrance.
