Autumn in Canberra

 A few photographs around Canberra on 8 May.  The first few are from our apartment beginning with the trees in City Walk. Then looking over Glebe Park and Reid. Close up on Reid. Reid, Campbell and over to the Taliesin Hills in NSW. Ainslie, with the roof of the Ainslie Hotel in the foreground. Heading South, the next tew images come from a walk along the base of Red Hill in Garran.  The first is a view towards, and beyond, Woden Town Centre. A maple tree in a back garden. No idea, but pretty. Ibid Japanese Maples in a front lawn in Couvreur Street. In the morning we went to Kellys Swamp with many Australian White Ibis From the apartment on 9 May.

Melbourne explorations Pt 5

 The intention of today was investigation of areas of Docklands.  Our original plan had been to just explore localities rather than check specific buildings: that is mostly what we did on Day 2.  However I have been exchanging emails with an agent and she had suggested some buildings of interest so we decided to look at them to give us some focus.  We did one in CBD Docklands on Wednesday evening and had 2 lined up for Saturday morning.   The day began with some fog visible to ground dwellers. It was a different perspective for those on upper storeys, a little later. Taking a tram down Collins St I liked the stonework on this Uniting Church. We got off the tram on the edge of Docklands and set off for the Forge building on the far side of the Yarra.  Here is the total route we followed, starting at the white dot.  There are some strange shapes on some of the buildings in the CBD and Docklands.  I wonder why the cube on top of this one is offset?   The interest in this image is the refl

Melbourne explorations part 4

I began the day by buying a new Myki card into which I would load the balance frm my old blocked one.  Nice try: have to wait to get an amount on the new card before that can be done!   Grrrrr! I had decided we needed to put in time to real estate so wouldn't go out to the WTP which is a full days trip.  With very good guidance from my Bird A Day friend Elke we decided to go to Jawbone Nature Reserve near Williamstown, after checking a possibility in the real estate area near Williamstown. Google Maps offered us 2 routes with one going over Westgate and the other dodging through 'burbs that could be accused of being part of Footscray.  Feeling adventurous we did the latter: with the number of turns involved I wouldn't have liked to try it without Google Map assistance.
