Wombat poem and purple flowers

The link between these is that wombats tend to come up to the house when the purple flowers start to appear.  Let me begin with some doggerel:

Spring is sprung, the grass iz riz
I wonder where the wombats iz?
A wombat runs across our lawn-
Now you see 'im, now 'e's gorn

Little dog is stuck indoors,
Raps the window with her paws.
Yapping, up the door she jumps,
She'd like to give that wombat lumps!

In mid-Winter's Monaro chilly cold
Even wombats aren't too bold.
Although, at noon, across the creek
A wombat sunbaths, fat and sleek.

At other seasons of the year
the wombats presence is still clear.
High-set, cubic piles of brown
Show the wombat's been aroun'.

Slightly more tastefully, here are some images of purple flowers.
