A fairly cooperative echidna

Late this morning the small dog started growling while looking out the window.  We assumed it was a roo, but on investigating it turned out to be an echidna on the kitchen bank.  I took a phone photo for Echidna CSI and then went to get some camera photos.

This was a bit tricky to start with as it was moving quite quickly and had made it across a lawn and under a fence by the time I relocated it.  I suspect they have quite good eyesight, as it was upwind of me (so scent shouldn't be an option) and I was standing still (so hearing or feeling vibrations should be ruled out) but it immediately ducked under a Kunzea bush.
After a brief wait it emerged and started trundling about looking for ants.
 Pause for a dig ...
 .. then more trundling.
A pity about the twig in these images but they do give a bit of detail of the face and the claws.
