Closing off the trip

This is a somewhat late close-off of the trip to Mallacoota.

On going on to the deck to check the sunrise the first thing I noticed was the horned moon!
The sunrise was a little low-key by Mallacoota standards.
Our friends had commented about an Australian King Parrot feeding from their hand.  And so it was.
When the female turned up she wasn't as bold as her partner, and didn't feed before something scared them off.
We did our traditional short dog walk to Bucklands Jetty in which vicinity we found a few pretty native flowers.  Hardenbergia violacea .....
 ... Indigofera sp.  ...

.. and something white, possibly a Prostathera sp.  (I wondered about P. lasianthos, but according to Plantnet that doesn't flower until November.)

We had odd weather driving back from Mallacoota. When we left there it was 17.5C which was maintained until we turned off the Princes Highway on to Imlay Rd. The drive along Imlay Rd was dry but the hills seemed pretty hazy - possibly a habitat reduction burn was going on. By the Monaro Highway end of Imlay Rd the temperature had dropped to 14C - which was Frances' guess for the temperature in Nimmitabel. By Bombala it had dropped to 12C and I thought my bet of 9C for Nimmi was looking possible. By the intersection with the Snowy Mountain Highway it was down to 10.5C and as we passed the pub in Nimmitabel 8.5C had registered.

A small amount of snow was visible on the far-away high peaks as we crossed the Divide just outside the village.

Cooma saw the temperature up to 12C and threatening clouds. It didn't actually start raining until we got past Queanbeyan.
