A short trip to Canberra (pt2)

 The 22nd of February began with a visit to the Croquet Club.  I had decided that rather than do one of our 'normal' walks I'd walk from the lawns.  This amounted to a lap of Lotus Bay and the various Asian gardens in the area.

An interesting set of signs.
  • The "street sign" to the croquet club;
  • The name of the Hyatt pub - this is the main entrance I think as it is often full of cars with CD plates when a posh delegation is in town; and
  • Noting the Asian nature of the parks (and the closeness of the Chinese Embassy) a warning sign about Death Caps.
Bird of the day was a Yellow-rumped Thornbill.
These are Dusky Woodswallows (as snapped)  ....
.. and after a little exposure adjustment by Photoshop Express!
Some snaps of the sunset from our apartment.

Looking down on Glebe Park where the idle idiots from the Multicultural Festival still haven't got close to packing up.  There are still Marquees and warning signs all through Civic 4 days after the event.  They couldn't organise a booze up in a brewery.
That event showed such disregard for the people living in Civic and Reid that this image might be a metaphor for the Labour-Greens rule of the Canberra Council.
I woke early on the 23rd and trotted over to the Library to return some books.  If one didn't know where the Library was one wouldn't have found it as it was totally blocked from view by some marquees from the aforementioned Ethnic riot.

Packed up and on the road by 0700.  As it was 10C at that time I guessed that it would have got to 15C by the time I got to Nimmitabel (around 0900).  That seemed optimistic as the temperature had dropped to 7C as I went past Michelago 40 minutes later!  Bird of the day (a White-necked Heron in a dam) was noticed a little South of Cooma.  Yep. it was cooler than I thought, only 12C as I came past Lake Williams.

Basically just cruised down the road in a relaxed fashion for the rest of the trip/.
