Getting into hot water

A wee while back we had our plumber (Les) on site and asked him to check the solar hot water service for leaks.  He found a couple and we basically concluded that it was time for a new service.  So one was purchased and it became a matter of Les finding a spare day to install it, among all his other jobs with many rebuilt homes and businesses coming back after the fire.

The temperature of the water had dropped a fair bit after the inspection but recovered after the plumber checked it again.  Then on Tuesday the therms disappeared completely so Les decided installation day had arrived.  He had son Paul working with him and some others on standby if needed.

Here is the old stuff organised for removal from the roof (in fact the old cylinder was already off - it took the long drop approach).

Here is the new cylinder positioned to go up.  This was thought likely to be difficult but all seemed to go well.  I don't think the supplementary help was needed.

Here is the completed new system.  Delivering very nice hot water!
