Gippsland Water Dragon

When I took Tammy out for her last toilet break on the evening of 15 January we found an ex-rabbit on the lawn.  Once I stopped cheering and shifted Tammy away I got a shovel and took it to dead-things central: our dam, where the yabbies deal with such things.  Lying on a fallen tree going into the dam was this:

When I tried to get a different angle I kicked the end of the fallen tree and the dragon promptly dived off into the water!

Hi MArtin
Lovely big green fellow.
Are they the same species as the ones which infest the lower pools at the ANBG?
I was never quite sure about them.
.
I have seen some Water Dragons in the Southern Highlands, but not so green as yours seems to be.
Cheers

This is the same species as in the ANBG (as far as I can tell.

I'm less sure about the Southern Highlands since Eastern Water Dragons (possibly just a different subspecies) occur as far South as Nowra and Kangaroo Valley.

Hi Martin
.
Thanks.
Your info matches with what I believed, but was not sure of - on both counts.
