Well, didn't it rain?

This is the title of a song by various folks of which I have a memory of a performance by Sister Rosetta Tharpe in the late 1960s.  There is also a work by Steve Reich based on splitting the words of a preacher he recorded somewhere.  Which is something he talks about in this interview

Having got the educational stuff out of the way let us look at a couple of radar images of what passes for weather here.  First up shows a nice line of storms passing through.
This lot more or less missed us and didn't really cause much excitement on the BoM site.  However, there was a bit more activity around 6pm with Severe Thunderstorm Warnings being issued.  This was the radar image about that time.  Remember where we were, from the previous image!
In fact that lot missed us as well.  We got about 5mm out of the edge of that storm and there was very little run-off around the house.  However on glancing down the drive I realised Whiskers Creek was running a banker - or indeed over the banker.  Here are some images starting with the creek approaching the road, then a weir (with the top normally about 1.5m above the water) and concluding with a swirl around the eroded end of the weir.

Note the colour of the water.  By 2030 it had all died down.  Obviously there had been a heck of a lot more rain than our total for the day of 10.5mm, up in the headwaters of the Creek.

After all that drama  it was nice to find that 9 November (ie 9/11, everywhere except the US) was clear and still.  So still that I got this nice shot at the dam nearest the house.

Isn't it wonderful to see the dams full. Lovely capture of the reflection of the gum tree.
